The Heart Healthy Menu-Mailer was created especially for those reducing their fat and sodium intakes, increasing their fiber, and striving to follow the dietary guidelines of DASH, AHA and the NHLBI.
Each Tuesday, six dinner recipes are published along with a weekly tip to help you take better control of your health. The Heart Healthy Menu-Mailer offers an array of dishes and is based on 2 meatless meals, 2 fish based meals, 1-2 chicken or turkey based meals, and 0-1 beef or lamb based meals each week.
Nutritionally, it focuses on reducing sodium intake to about 500 mg or less. Fats average about 30% or less. Fibers will have a minimum of 3 grams or more per serving. These figures are based on an 1800 calories a food plan.
